Golden Spice Oatmeal

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups milk (or a dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt


  1. In a saucepan, combine the rolled oats and milk (or dairy-free alternative) over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the ground turmeric, brown sugar, poppy seeds, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Cook the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, for about 5-7 minutes, or until the oatmeal thickens and reaches your desired consistency. If it becomes too thick, you can add a bit more milk.
  4. Once the oatmeal is cooked to your liking, remove the saucepan from the heat.
  5. Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract. Adjust the sweetness to your taste by adding more maple syrup if desired.
  6. Serve the golden poppyseed maple oatmeal in bowls, and top with your choice of sliced bananas, chopped nuts, or fresh berries for added flavor and texture.
  7. Enjoy your comforting and nutritious breakfast bowl with a delightful blend of flavors, including the warmth of turmeric, the sweetness of maple syrup, and the crunch of poppy seeds.
