Golden Spice Oatmeal
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 cups milk (or a dairy-free alternative)
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- In a saucepan, combine the rolled oats and milk (or dairy-free alternative) over medium heat.
- Stir in the ground turmeric, brown sugar, poppy seeds, and a pinch of salt.
- Cook the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, for about 5-7 minutes, or until the oatmeal thickens and reaches your desired consistency. If it becomes too thick, you can add a bit more milk.
- Once the oatmeal is cooked to your liking, remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract. Adjust the sweetness to your taste by adding more maple syrup if desired.
- Serve the golden poppyseed maple oatmeal in bowls, and top with your choice of sliced bananas, chopped nuts, or fresh berries for added flavor and texture.
