Cocoa Hemp Seed Milk

Cocoa Hemp Seed Milk

  • 4 cups filtered water
  •  3 dates, soaked in warm water for at least 5 minutes
  •  ¾ cup hemp seeds/hearts
  •  ¼ tsp sea salt
  •  2 tbsp cocoa powder or Dutch processed cocoa powder
  •  1 ½ tbsp maple syrup
  •  1 tsp vanilla extract

  1. Add hemp seeds, soaked dates, water and sea salt to a high powered blender and blend on high for 2 minutes or until smooth and frothy. Pour milk through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth over top a wide bowl or jug. Gently squeeze/knead the milk through the nut milk bag. You will be left with some hemp seed residue in the bag. You could incorporate this into a smoothie, or crackers or just compost it.
  2. Return filtered milk to blender and add vanilla, cocoa powder and maple syrup and blend for about 30 seconds or until smooth. Store in a glass container or pitcher. Shake well before pouring and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
